Costa Rican LBS round 6 best performance: Amir Alvarado- October 26, 2020
The 36-year old player had a double-double of 28 points and 14 rebounds, while his team edged out Siquirres (3-2) 61-60. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Heredia is placed at 3rd position in Costa Rican LBS. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost two games earlier this season. Heredia will need more victories to improve their 3-2 record. In the team's last game Alvarado had a remarkable 80.0% from 2-point range. He turned to be Heredia's top player in his first season with the team. Former Marshalltown Community College star has very solid stats this year. Alvarado is league's best scorer averaging so far 24.3ppg and leads league in rebounds with 13.0rpg. Alvarado is in league's top in and averages impressive 63.1% FGP. The second best player in last round's games was 40-year old former international forward Yackie Acuna (190-F-80) of Perez Zeledon. Acuna had a very good evening with 31 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Of course he led Perez Zeledon to another comfortable win outscoring slightly higher-ranked Alajuela (#5, 2-5) 94-71. Despite this victory Perez Zeledon slide down in the standings to the very bottom. 4 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory Perez Zeledon managed to get this year. Acuna is one of the most experienced players at Perez Zeledon and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 16.7ppg (#4). He also registered 6.3 boards per game. Third on the list of top players last round was former international center Harold Mitchell (200-C-83) of Siquirres (#4). Mitchell scored 17 points and grabbed seventeen rebounds (!!!). Despite Mitchell's great performance Siquirres lost 60-61 to #3 ranked Heredia. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Siquirres needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 3 victories and 2 lost games. Mitchell has a very solid season. In 2 games in Costa Rica he scored 19.0ppg.
